Will Solo Leveling Have the Longevity of a Long-Running Series?

Solo Leveling shatters records and dominates the anime scene.

January 2024 marked the arrival of Solo Leveling’s first season, instantly making waves in the anime community.

It quickly gained popularity across different fan bases while setting streaming records one after another. Adapted from Chugong’s original web novel, the series closely follows the events of its webtoon counterpart.

Now that the second season is in full swing, the excitement surrounding the anime remains as strong as ever, with recent episodes once again making a major impact online.

The ongoing season is expected to conclude with the Jeju Island arc, which corresponds to chapter #107 of the webtoon—approximately the midway point of the original adaptation.

Considering the overwhelming success of the anime, there is little doubt that it will continue until the full story is told.

However, with the second season progressing steadily, many fans are already speculating about what lies ahead once this arc reaches its conclusion. Fortunately, the Solo Leveling universe extends beyond the current anime adaptation, offering even more stories to view.

A Solo Leveling Sequel Series is Already Being Published

Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Made Its Webtoon Debut in August 2024

The conclusion of Solo Leveling’s web novel came in 2018, and its webtoon adaptation officially wrapped up in November 2024.

However, just a few months before the webtoon ended, a spin-off sequel titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok was introduced in August 2024.

Unlike the original series, which was written by Chugong, the web novel version of this sequel is penned by Daul. That being said, Chugong has given his endorsement to the new writer, ensuring continuity within the universe.

The story moves its focus to Sung Suho, the son of Sung Jinwoo, as he steps into a world still filled with dungeons and gates—the very elements that defined his father’s legendary status.

As a college student, Suho does not initially qualify as a hunter, but when conflict arises, he is faced with the same choice that once changed Jinwoo’s fate: the opportunity to become a player.

This continuation is still in progress, but once the Solo Leveling anime reaches its conclusion, there is no reason why the sequel wouldn’t follow in its footsteps with an adaptation of its own.

Solo Leveling Has Other Projects in the Works

Side Stories Exploring the Origins of Igris and Ashborn Are in Development

Beyond Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, additional projects within the franchise are also being developed. As of January 2025, Chugong confirmed that origin stories centered on Igris and Ashborn are in the works.

Igris, the very first member of Sung Jinwoo’s shadow army, became an instant favorite following his standout battle in Season One and has only gained more admiration as the series progresses.

With these backstories on the way, both characters could soon receive adaptations dedicated to their histories.

With the second season proving to be another massive success, it’s clear that Solo Leveling has plenty more to offer its fans.

The anime is expected to continue airing for quite some time, and even when it concludes, there will still be much left to experience. Although Solo Leveling: Ragnarok is still in the early stages of publication, it remains a strong candidate for an eventual anime adaptation once the
