Fans of Solo Leveling have something new to anticipate, as the beloved anime series is making its way into live-action. Kakao Entertainment recently confirmed that a Korean drama adaptation of the hit series, which gained widespread attention last year, is officially in development.

This announcement coincides with the ongoing success of Solo Leveling – Arise From the Shadow, the anime’s second season. Thus far, the latest installment has been well received, earning praise from both audiences and critics, and even surpassing the Crunchyroll streaming records previously set by the first season.

Speculation about a live-action adaptation began circulating shortly after the anime’s massive international success, though no official confirmation had been made—until now.

Kakao Entertainment has now formally disclosed its plans on their website, revealing that the adaptation is part of a larger strategy to expand the franchise. Their report emphasizes Solo Leveling’s strong performance across multiple platforms, yet also clarifies that the live-action project is still in the early phases.

The company’s media division is currently in the process of script development, marking the first step toward bringing the story to life in a new format.

Solo Leveling’s Expanding Universe

With this upcoming adaptation, the Solo Leveling fanbase is set to grow even further, and Kakao has assured supporters that additional projects will be introduced shortly.

A statement from their announcement highlights the franchise’s immense reach, stating: “Solo Leveling has now cemented its status as an intellectual property that represents K-content not just within Kakao Entertainment, but also on both domestic and international levels.

We will continue to invest in Solo Leveling and work toward setting new records together. The expansion of this universe has no limits.” Beyond the anime, Solo Leveling has already branched out into multiple forms of media.

The franchise consists of a web novel, the webtoon sequel Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, which takes place in the future, and the widely popular mobile RPG Solo Leveling: Arise, which has amassed over 50 million downloads.

Additionally, last year saw the release of Solo Leveling: ReAwakening, an anime film summarizing the events of the first season, which performed impressively at the box office.

What Is Solo Leveling About?

Set in a fantasy world filled with dangerous portals, Solo Leveling follows the journey of Sung Jinwoo, an E-rank hunter—one of the weakest classifications—who stumbles upon a mysterious system that allows him to enhance his skills beyond normal limitations.

This unexpected discovery grants him a crucial edge against the monstrous threats that endanger humanity. As he gains power beyond what was previously believed possible, he begins assisting other hunters in their battles.

Upcoming Developments and Where to Watch

The second season of the anime introduces a new challenge as Jinwoo embarks on a mission to obtain the Elixir of Life, a rare substance with the potential to save his mother. His growing strength and determination drive him forward, pushing him into even greater conflicts as the story plays out.

For those eager to experience the series, Solo Leveling Season 1 is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, while new episodes from Season 2 are released every Saturday. Keep an eye out for further updates regarding the highly anticipated live-action adaptation.
